Arch City Tank Top (Women's)

The nickname “Arch City” goes back over 100 years to around 1909 when Columbus became nationally renowned for the arches that lined its city streets. The arches worked on two functional levels by providing supports for the wiring needed to operate the electric streetcars, but with the addition of incandescent light bulbs, they also provided a very attractive street lighting system. Arches also lined the arcade of the Columbus Union Station which was eventually town down. Thankfully, one of the arches was saved and stands now in the Arena District. Providing even more fuel for the “Arch City” appellation are the bridges over the Scioto Downtown, which highlight arches in the supports underneath.
