The Forest Citys Baseball Club

The Forest Citys Baseball Club

Regular price $26.00 $0.00

The first professional team in Cleveland, The Forest Citys (that’s right, not Cities), started in 1870 and had four stints.  First, they only played two seasons at the National Association Grounds (Central Ave and E. 55th) before calling it quits, probably because of their stellar 16-35 record.  But then again, that’s sort of in line with Cleveland Sports, and we would have loved ‘em anyways.  Their next stint was between 1879 and 1884 when they were ALSO called the Cleveland Blues, but again, left the league – this time for finances.  They had a brief comeback in 85, but folded again.  Their final stand was between 1886 and 1889 and couldn’t muster a record above .500.  After that, they underwent a name change (Cleveland Spiders!) and didn’t look back…maybe they should.
