The Horseshoe has been an icon in Columbus, and all of college football for that matter, since 1922 when it first opened.  With an entryway designed after the Pantheon and seating in the shape of a horseshoe (hence the name), this stadium is one of a kind.  It was originally the largest stadium west of the Appalachian Mountains, and was the first concrete stadium with a deck.  Over the years, improvements to the bleachers in the south end zone has increased the stadium capacity, but you can still see the horseshoe shape that gave it its nickname.
