Established in 1899 and wildly successful until the Great Depression and its subsequent closing in 1938, Olentangy Park was – at its apex – the largest amusement park in the country. Originally, the park highlighted rides and attractions like a carousel, the Figure Eight roller coaster, a Japanese garden, and the Tunnel of Love. It eventually also became home to a large collection of exotic animals which would eventually be passed on to what would become the Columbus Zoo, the Canoe Club, the largest theater in the country, and the largest pool in the country.
