Queen City of the West
In the first 40 years that Cincinnati was a city, it grew faster than just about anywhere else in the frontier west (remember, this WAS “west”). This rapid growth led to rapid development in commerce including shops and stores carrying the latest trends in fashion from the high-to-do city folk in the big cosmopolitan areas - unseen by any other of the rough and rowdy "western" cities. This type of draw, access to all of the finer things in life, led to Cincinnati getting dubbed the “Queen City of the West.” Cause, you know, ain’t nothing fancier than royal folk.
