The Guardians of Traffic
Regular price
$26.00
Carved out of local Berea Sandstone, these giant guardians of traffic were put up in 1932 to watch over the cars on the Hope Memorial Bridge. Each of the eight guardians holds a different kind of vehicle, and are meant to signify the speed and progress of the evolution of transportation (the winged helmets are for the SPEED). The coolest thing is, the City debated about whether or not to even include any kind of decoration on the bridge, but Clevelanders DEMANDED that the City spent what they needed to to make sure the bridge was beautiful.
