Welcome to the Fair
An Ohio tradition since 1850, the State Fair had a bit of a rocky start. The first one was planned for 1849 but a Cholera outbreak squashed those plans. So in 1850, Camp Washington in Cincy hosted the first fair, where admission was 20 cents. In 1966 Ohio got serious about its entryway and spent a cool 40 grand designing and installing an awesome “OHIO” entrance, and faithful turkey leg eating, butter cow watching Ohioans crossed that entrance every year until it was replaced in 2002 with a more modern version.
